Foundations of TCM Nutrition
YEOVIL OCTOBER 31st 2014
LONDON NOVEMBER 9th 2014
with Daverick Leggett
In this one day workshop we will look at the basic principles of TCM Nutrition. Beginning with the roots of nutrition in the broader practice of Yang Sheng we will look at how our eating habits can reinforce or undermine our health. We will then look at Chinese medicine’s understanding of food energetics and the language through which this is expressed. Finally we will look at how these principles can be applied in practice.

The day will include
• An introduction to Yang Sheng, the age old approach to health preservation through spiritual practice, physical exercise, sexual practice, relaxation, mindfulness and nutrition. In particular we will look at Yang Sheng’s nutritional wisdom and compare it with some of the findings of current research
• The language of nutrition. Specifically we will cover the temperatures, flavours, routes and actions of food and look at how this understanding is applied in practice
• Direct experience. The teaching will be supported by tastings of foods to explore the direct experience of a food’s energy. If time and space allow we will also do some Qigong for the digestive system
This workshop will give a solid foundation in the basic understanding of TCM nutrition.
